I'll actually say 4.5 stars since you can easily hear the weight scraping back and forth inside - I think a tube of thin felt slid into the wand might cure that without affecting function. That said, it's great - it took me a few flicks to get it right but otherwise it launched a golf ball sized fireball from the tip that goes about eight to ten feet before burning out. I gently fold the flash paper rather than crumbling it so it won't roll out of the wand and I think that's also why I've been getting a bigger fireball than you see on the YouTube videos. Doing it that way, the fireball is large and bright enough to be easily seen in a brightly lit room or outside. For me, I found a sideways flick works best, plus, that allows me to aim better as the downward flick wasn't working as well and when it did, I kept firing the fireball into the ground. You get a decent sized pad of flash paper while the caps are just regular toy gun caps - snip them free with a knife or scissors. The caps do tend to break apart so when reloading, make sure to allow the weight to slide out into you hand so you don't have pieces of plastic clogging up the tube. The caps also leave residue on the nipple, so wipe it clean after you're done and you may need to use a needle (I fire cap and ball guns so I've got an actual nipple cleaner) to make sure it doesn't clog up. I haven't tried using flash cotton in addition to flash paper so can't comment on whether or not that helps. All said though, it's a great prop that does what it promises and it is solidly built - I'm guessing aluminum since it is light, but not magnetic.
